About the Therapist

Hi, I’m Jen Lindsay, LMT. I have an interesting background, but I’ll spare you the details.

My first massage was after a 5K race in 2007. I didn’t hate it, but I went on with my life as a scientist in Massachusetts. A layoff in 2010 changed everything. I ended up in Washington state, and decided to attend massage school. I had my own practice for eight years and also worked as an employee during the first four of those years. New England seemed to want me back, so I closed my practice and moved back east…in early 2020…

I was unable to obtain a copy of my Washington massage school transcript after years of trying, which prevented me from getting my massage license in any state other than Washington. So, I went back into the lab - there were lots of laboratory opportunities in 2020, as you might imagine. A few years later, I’d had enough of the pharmaceutical industry, and chose to return to massage school. I ended up at NHITA in Nashua, which was a very thorough program with amazing instructors and classmates.

So, that’s my abbreviated story, “You Just Can’t Make This Up.”

My Massage Approach

Massage pressure levels…I am able to accommodate light, medium, and firm pressure levels, which are subjective (vary from person to person). Deep pressure makes my body angry these days.

Body areas that may be included…scalp, face, neck, shoulders, back, hips, legs, feet, arms, hands, pectoral area (between the neck and the chest). I tend not to perform abdominal work, but may consider that on a case-by-case basis. We will discuss areas to be massaged prior to the massage, including whether there are any areas you would like to avoid.

I find that calming the nervous system helps with the overall goals of massage for many people. The nervous system seems to generally like slow, predictable movements. My approach is to gradually work through tissue layers in tense areas, essentially resulting in a deep tissue massage that doesn’t involve deep pressure.

Two-way communication is essential. I can feel how the muscles respond to the massage, but, as a client, it is important to keep me informed regarding how the massage feels for you (does something feel uncomfortable, is the pressure level acceptable, etc.).
